Young people have always been central to the work of the Lantern. Students from Ballyphehane secondary school were very involved in the early stages of the project when it was based in South Presentation.
We are proud to partner with the national youth organization Foroige www.foroige.ie in providing space for the Greenmount Youth Café, Youth Development Programme and Big Brother Big Sister matches.

Greenmount Youth Development Project
Ethos:
The general ethos of the Greenmount Youth Development Project is that we believe each person is:
- Unique
- Creative
- Can take responsibility
- Is interdependent with others
- Can make a difference to the world
- Can have an influence
- Can learn from every situation
Mission:
The purpose of the Greenmount Youth Development Project is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of society. We aim to empower young people to develop their own abilities and attributes, to think for themselves, to make things happen and to contribute to their community and society. As a result, they develop greater self-confidence, self-reliance, resilience and greater capacity to take charge of their lives.
